German cockroaches usually grow between ½” and 5/8” long by adulthood. They are colored in variations of light brown to tan and have two distinct parallel stripes on their backs. German cockroaches prefer the warmth and will find places under appliances and such to hunker down. They will always opt to be indoors during the cold months, but may move outdoors when the weather is warm.
By adulthood, Oriental cockroaches will grow up to 1” long and they range from dark brown to black in color. They often traverse sewer pipes and can be found under sinks, basements and crawl spaces. Outside, they live under stones and leaf piles or other similar dark and damp areas to feed on decaying materials.
